Overview of Hirata Village

Hirata Village is located in southern part of the prefecture and in the northeast of Ishikawa-gun County, at latitude 37.08-37.16 degrees north and longitude 140.30-140.37 east. Hirata Village lies just about halfway between Iwaki City and Koriyama City. Lying within the Abukuma mountain chain, Hirata Village is in an area of gentle folds of hills between 500 to 700 meters above sea level, sandwiched between Yomogida-dake (peak) in the northwestern end and Shiba-yama in the southeastern end. Although the village has a light snowfall, it is challenged by the harsh cold air. The coming of spring is late with flowers of plum, peach and cherry blossoms blooming all at once in late April. Hirata Village is blessed with a harsh, but rich and abundant natural environment.
